Lamaze Childbirth Educator Seminars

Are you interested in birth?  Would you like to teach Lamaze Childbirth Education classes to expectant families? Whether or not you have experience in birth work, this seminar is for you.  Become an educator with an internationally respected organization.  Lamaze educators work independently or in hospitals and birth centers.

Certification by Lamaze International is the most respected and recognized credential in childbirth education certification.

The Lamaze childbirth education certification is the only childbirth educator program that has passed the rigorous standards set by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). The program has been designed to meet the highest professional standards, with quality offerings that will help you develop as a skilled, trusted LCCE.

Who should attend?

Our target audience includes doulas, nurses, doctors, midwives, massage therapists, and any other professional who wants to educate women and their families on the importance of healthy birth practices.

Registering for the Seminar

Before registering for the seminar, please decide which Pathway you would like to follow then read our Seminar Requirements below and our Seminar Refund and Grievance Policy.

 Seminar Requirements/Reading List:

  1. Complete the seminar registration form under the category, For Birth Professionals;

  2. Pay registration fees in full or with a deposit (see Payment Options below); 

  3. Purchase and self-study the Lamaze Learning Guide before attending the seminar.  The cost is currently $225 (and includes the most current Toolkit as well) through Lamaze International’s website and is not included in the registration fee;

  4. Read Lamaze’s Giving Birth with Confidence (3rd ed.).

  5. Read Penny Simkin’s Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Newborn.

  6. Read Penny Simkin’s The Birth Partner (5th ed).

  7. Purchase and read any quality Breastfeeding book.  Examples include The Womenly Art of Breastfeeding by the La Leche League (8th ed), OR Breastfeeding Made Simple by Nancy Mohrbacher.

  8. Practice teach a 20-minute segment to attendees during the seminar;

  9. Attend seminar in full.  Partial attendance credit is not given.  However, if an issue comes up that you need to attend to and cannot stay for the entire seminar, please speak to me and we will discuss how you can make up the remaining hours.

  10. Be an active participant during the seminar!  We’re here to answer your questions, support your endeavor, and guide you through this process.

The Lamaze Exam

The cost of taking the Lamaze exam is not included in your seminar fee.  Once you feel prepared to sit for the exam, and meet the eligibility requirements of your pathway, you may apply here.  Seminar attendees must take the Lamaze Certification Exam within three years of completing the seminar.

Seminar Fee:

Fee includes the seminar, seminar binder with materials, snacks during the seminar, contact hours, mentoring by phone, email and/or online video chat, and review/feedback of your course design that you will write (if you desire).  The cost of the certification exam, the Lamaze Learning Guide and Toolkit, and the books from the Reading List, are not included in this fee.

Payment options

There are two payment options available to you.

  1. You may pay your balance in full when you submit your registration, OR

  2. You may pay a non-refundable deposit of $250 on the registration page, then agree to make a minimum monthly payment of $150.  The balance of $450 must be paid no later than 30 days before the first day of the seminar (you may pay off the balance at any time through the Mum’s the Word website on the Make a Payment page).  If you do not pay your balance by the final due date (30 days before the first day of the seminar), you will forfeit your deposit and lose your space in the seminar.
